ID Cards

Planning to visit the doctor or fill a prescription at a new pharmacy soon? You’ll want to have your Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) member ID card handy. If you’ve misplaced or lost yours, you can print a temporary card or request a new one in Blue Access for MembersSM (BAMSM). Here’s a quick look at how:

Print a temporary member ID card
If you need a member ID card today for an appointment or pharmacy visit, you can print a temporary one from multiple areas within BAM.

  1. Log in to BAM. If you haven’t registered yet, you’ll need your group and individual member ID numbers. You can find these on the welcome letter you received from us.
  2. Once you’ve logged in, click on "Get a Temporary ID Card” under Quick Links on the home page.

From there, click the "Print Temporary ID Card" button. Remember, your computer must be connected to a printer.

Request an ID card
You can also order an additional permanent member ID card or a replacement for a lost card in BAM.

  1. Log in to BAM. If you haven’t registered yet, you’ll need your group and individual member ID numbers. You can find these on the welcome letter you received from us.
  2. Once you’ve logged in, click on "Get a Temporary ID Card” under Quick Links on the home page.
  3. From there, click the "order an ID card” link at the top of the page.
  4. Confirm your address and submit your request. Your card(s) will be sent to you within two weeks. Regardless of how many people are covered on your policy, BAM will generate only one member ID card at a time. You’ll need to request multiple cards individually if you need more than one.

If you have questions about getting a new member ID care or about benefits, claims or other information related to your Blue Access for Members account, call customer service at the number listed on your member ID card.

For easy access to BAM and your virtual ID card, download the BCBSIL Mobile App to view on your mobile device. The BCBSIL App is available for iPhone and Android users. To get the BCBSIL App, text* BCBSILAPP to 33633 or search for BCBSIL in the iTunes App Store leaving site icon or Google Play. leaving site icon
