Music Therapy

How can I get Music Therapy covered as medically necessary for my son with Autism? We have BCBS of IL PPO and our plan does not specifically exclude it. We have tried to bill with the appropriate CPT codes. He would definitely benefit and make great progress. Also, there is no network providers for music therapy, so how do I get it covered at in network rate?

Hello, You or your son's provider can submit a letter requesting coverage for this service to us to have that reviewed to see if coverage is eligible under your plan's benefits. The letter should include an explanation of the service and why your son's doctor feels this is medically necessary.

You can contact our customer service department at the number on your ID card to request a review to have an out-of-network provider covered at the in-network benefit level. This will be reviewed to see if it is possible. ~ Kayla
